Oh my what a bunch of cuties these little Leo puppies are! They are adorable. They love to say hi. You can see they are not so little anymore - they are now all over 20 lbs. Incredible how fast they grow. Too cute!

Puppies had their first vaccinations!

The puppies had their first set of puppy shots on Tuesday and did a great job. They didn't mind the vaccination too much but never like the big needle for the microchip! That hurts! They all came through their puppy exams with flying colours.

They are such cute puppies - we love them all so much! Too cute they are!

Here is GCH Corleone's Hidden Agenda (Huck)! What a beauty this boy is, he is Huxley's brother and is pictured here winning Best of Breed at a Leonberger Specialty show in Gettysburg, PA, on Oct. 22, 2011. Huck has done really well in the show ring and is a Grand Champion in the US. He is a stunning Leonberger and looks so much like Huxley and his father the famous Gulliver!

Wow the puppies are growing now and are SO CUTE. They are adorable, friendly, happy puppies that love to bite on your pants legs, get hugs and kisses and maybe nibble on your nose. They have been enjoying a lot of outside time and are having much fun playing in the nice fall weather we have been having. We can't believe that seven weeks have already gone by and soon these little babies will be going to their new homes. Only a few more weeks!

The puppies had a great week and moved from their puppy box to the family room and they love that! That have had some visitors now and are enjoying all the snuggles they are getting. The little girl is almost as big as the others now and is so cute! Big blue boy is still the biggest but green boy is almost the same size. They are all very sweet puppies!

Well that week even went faster than the last ... and the puppies are three weeks old. They are so funny and are moving everywhere in the box, exploring, biting, playing, sitting, rolling, and giving kisses! We love the kisses. They are finding their voices and talk to each other. They are all so cute! Little girl is doing great and though she is still much littler than the others she is super sweet. Big boy blue is the biggest of the puppies, with green boy a close second. Next week will be a big week for them when they move out of their box and into an expanded world. They will also start to get visitors soon too. That should be much fun! Zoey is doing great and still is quite attached with the puppies.

Wow how did that happen! Two weeks have flown by in a flash. Here they are - red girl, light blue girl, little girl, lime girl, black boy, green boy and BIG blue boy! Blue boy is one big puppy. They are all doing great. Eyes are open but they still don't hear too much. Shouldn't be too much longer now. They are super cute!

The puppies have little slits now for their eyes and they can likely 'see' some light. Over the next few days their eyes will completely open and then shortly after that their ears will open too and they will be able to see and hear! How exciting, the fun really begins once the puppies can see and hear, their personalities will start to shine!

The puppies are so funny and are starting to play with each other and to nibble on your fingers. They are very snuggly too and love to be held and patted. I can't believe how big they are. They are growing like weeds and are very chunky puppies!

The puppies continue to be fabulous, they are growing and eating and playing a bit now, they are very happy puppies. The three boys are all very fat puppies and the girls are all girlie puppies. The size difference is quite apparent. The boys all have big boy heads and the girls all have pretty little girl heads. The girl puppies all have names now, they are Angelina, Olivia, Tian and Princess Dora! One of the boys is Tiger and the other two are still their color collars. Too cute. Their eyes are still not open but you can see tiny little slits so they are beginning, shouldn't be too many more days. They are also starting to walk a little now, but still mostly just crawl along the box.

Wow that was a fast week. The puppies are doing great as is Zoey. The boys are now 1 kg in weight! Those are big puppies. They are all really sweet and enjoy to be cuddled! Zoey is a great mom and is taking care of everything. She goes in and out of the box now and leaves the puppies for longer periods of time, but they don't mind as they are mostly sleeping then. When they wake they make some noise and she goes back to them quickly. Very sweet!

The puppies and Zoey are doing great! They are all growing, eating and moving about in the box. They are very happy puppies and are snuggly with mom. Zoey is doing a great job and is enjoying her babies very much!

Zoey did a GREAT job and was a pro with her puppies. The first puppy was born at around 10 am this morning and the last was born at 3:00 pm. The last puppy was number 7 and our little surpise as we thought she was finished after number 6. We had even washed Zoey all up and changed the bedding and then the little puppy arrived. She is the smallest of the litter. The other six are all big puppies. We will be keeping an eye on our little puppy and hoping she will do well. So the final count is 3 big boys and 4 sweet girls. Fingers crossed that all continue to do well over the next few weeks! Zoey is tired and is sleeping now but she is being a good mom and is very happy with her babies!

Well we are getting close now and all is good. We had Zoey up for her x-ray to count the puppies and we saw five or six puppies. So we will see. Zoey is still feeling great and even got out for a short walk today. She hasn't started anything yet, but you can feel the little puppies in her tummy moving around. How great is that. They are rolling around and kicking their little feet. It was a beautiful day today and we took these pictures of Zoey and her best friend.

What a sweetie Huxley is! He is a BIG boy and stands some 31+ inches and he is as sweet as can be. He loves kids and loves to hang out and is a really laid back boy! We hope he passes on his calm and sweet nature to his soon to be puppies!

Here is a picture of Zoey taken today! The weather was finally sunny here in Nova Scotia and the dogs were all too hot! They enjoyed the day hanging out in their new big yard! They are not used to the warmer days as we have had so few this summer. You can see that Zoey's tummy is getting pretty big! One and a half weeks left until the puppies arrive. Zoey is a beautiful Leonberger, she is so pretty and so sweet. We love her!

Well after a busy year with the move and everything we are expecting puppies again!!!!! We are very excited about our new litter of puppies and hope to post lots of pictures of the new babies to the blog. The proud parents are our beautiful Zoey and the lovely Huxley. Huxley is the sweetest male Leo you can imagine and very beautiful too. Zoey is a dream, she is so stunning and beautiful. We are very excited about the puppies. Well it has been such a long time since I have posted to the blog. So many things have happened, the biggest I suppose is that we have moved to a new home and property! We were very sad to have had to say goodbye to our old home and property and miss the house very much, but our new home offers more space for both the dogs and the kids! The dogs are getting settled and are enjoying their new home and yard and exploring everything and everywhere.

We are getting settled too and the kids are enjoying the new home also! Still lots and lots of things to do but at least we have actually moved everyone and everything! What a lot of work that was - hopefully we won't be moving again any time soon!

Well my little girls are growing up and they are so funny! Hanna is now five months now and is such a busy little girl! She is very smart and brings whatever is in her reach into the kitchen when the gate is closed. Here she is pulling one of the kid's blankets through the kitchen baby gate. Hailee (6 months) just sits and watches and never participates in Hanna's adventures. Hanna takes everything from everywhere! Busy busy busy!

Wow it is so hard to believe that our Magical Mya is five years old today! Five years ago today our most beautiful Gracie gave birth to the cutest most special Berner puppies in the entire world! We love you all so much. We can't believe that our last Berner litter was five years ago. A very special day for very special puppies. And then there were three puppies! Hanna has joined our family and as you can see she is very sweet and really cute. She is the little one in the photos with Hailee and Teddy. Hailee is the blonder puppy and Teddy is the biggest one who is also darker. They all love to play together. Hanna loves to chew sticks and has a tiny stick in one in the top photo. She was very proud of herself for finding such a little stick. Too cute!

I can't believe that it is already almost December! I haven't posted here for too long. The puppies are now 3 months old and are so cute. Purple and Blue boys are in their new homes and are doing great. We miss them so much! We still have Pinky and Green boy here with us. Green is now called Teddy and Pink is called Hailee for the time being. We will see if the kids change her name again! Hailee is the first photo and the lighter color puppy and Teddy is the second puppy who is darker and has a bigger coat already! The puppies are absolutely adorable. They also have a new little friend that has joined the family. Her name is Hanna and is so sweet. They are all getting along fabulously and are growing and growing! Such sweet puppies.

Hard to believe these sweet puppies are already five weeks old! The time goes by too fast. They are just so cute and are doing everything five week old puppies should be doing! The puppies really had a great time outside today. They were running everywhere! Well they still aren't old enough to really run but they were moving pretty good. The pups are really changing now and are walking and playing and even giving a little bark or two! They are starting to chew on each other and are just TOO cute. You can feel little bumps where their teeth are coming so soon they will have little sharps coming through their gums. Still will be a few weeks until they have enough pressure in their jaws for any biting action. The pups are growing and growing and weigh around 3 - 3.5 lbs! Wow how did that happen two weeks old already. The puppies are fantastic - so cute. They are all doing great and are growing, have fat little tummies and are very happy. They are starting to play now and their eyes are open. They are still not liking the heat we are having. We put a few water bottles in the box with cool water and they are sleeping on them - kinda like a little puppy water bed!

The puppies are doing great and are moving around a bit. Our biggest issue now is keeping our little helper out of the puppy box. She loves the puppies and wants to be with them always. She is a good little helper!

UGH it is SO HOT here in Nova Scotia that we are all just about to melt away. Even with the windows open there is almost no breeze coming through the house. The house is at 88 F and it is so humid too. The dogs are all panting everywhere and the puppies are pretty warm also. They at least are on the lower level of the house where it is a bit cooler but still way up over 80 F. We are not used to this kind of weather as a typical summer day around here is in the mid 70s. Several of the dogs have pretty big coats already getting ready for fall and now this heat is upon us. Too hot - we hope it goes away soon!

The fantastic four - day 12!

Well we have had a bit of a roller coaster ride here for the last few days with the puppies but thankfully with the help of my fantastic vet and lots of love, support and sleepless nights the puppies are all doing GREAT. We couldn't be happier. Puppies are so delicate those first few weeks and sometimes things just don't go the way you have it all planned. We hope that the puppies now continue to do well. They are so beautiful.

Their eyes are starting to open, you can see a tiny crack and a little bit of their eyes. They are starting to wobble around the box learning how to go up on all four legs. Sometimes they will now sit and you think they might be trying to look around. But mostly they still like to snuggle up with mom. Priscilla is doing great but is looking a little raggedy and worn out from all the laying around, though she is feeling good. It has been dreadfully hot here - unbelievably so - so we are all wishing for some cooler weather!

Priscilla is being a wonderful mom and spends all of her time with the puppies. They don't like it at all when she even leaves the box to go outside for a little break. As soon as they realize she is not there they start calling for her and as soon as she goes back with them they all settle down! Too cute but poor Priscilla needs a break soon. The first few weeks are pretty hard on mom that's for sure.

Wow hard to believe that a week as flown by already. It doesn't really seem possible. I guess that is what happens when the world basically stops and you spend most of your time sitting in the whelping box with mom and puppies. The puppies continue to do well and are so cute. The top photo is Green boy next to Pink girl (their rickrack came off!). The second is of Purple and Blue boys! Next week is another big week for them when they start moving around more and near the end of the week the eyes and ears will start to open and they will start to see and hear. There is plenty of noise around our home for them that's for sure! Enjoy!

You can see the puppies are growing already! They are getting a little plump and are starting to fill in a bit. Still have a long way to go though. They are still mostly snuggling with mom and don't like it at all when she goes outside for a little break. Green and Purple found each other and were sleeping so nicely together, but they like it best when mom is right there in the box with them! Priscilla still likes to be in the box too with her babies. So sweet!

Well after a lot of discussion with my helpers the decision was made to make white boy green boy! Too funny. They thought that green was a better color for the puppy and than white so green he will be! He still is a very funny puppy and loves to be upside!

We are still working hard with the puppies but they are doing well. I haven't had nearly any sleep since their arrival and am getting pretty tired but there always seems to be something that needs to be done! The puppies are really cute and very funny. The blue one loves to cuddle with mom and get in the warmest most furry spots. White boy loves to roll around and is often found upside down! He is already a comedian! Pink girl of course is a princess and purple boy is a total sweetie! We hope that they continue to do well and hopefully I will be able to get some sleep soon and also to catch up on all my many many emails!

We had a great day with the kids, dogs and of course puppies. The sun was out with a bit of a breeze and some big white clouds in the sky. The temperature was perfect - not too hot and not too cold. Wish the weather was always like it was today!

Well my littlest helper found the old bag of chips and thought that was quite the treat! They were all mushy from the heat and humidity in the puppy room but she didn't seem to mind! She was pretty sulky when the bag had to go into the garbage can!

So the rick rack color discussions are ongoing. Hopefully we will be able to settle on a puppy color soon. It is a hard decision for a two little ones if the puppy should be white or green! They love the puppies and love to hang out with me in the puppy room. Too cute!

The puppies - day 2!

The puppies and mom Priscilla are doing really well. I am pretty sleepy but that is always what happens with new baby puppies in the house. So red boy is now white boy and maybe soon to be green boy! The kids just can't decide what color they want him to be. They decided that 'red' was a puppy girl color! We are also trying to come up with a litter name and are thinking of the fantastic four. They are pretty fantastic and it is totally fantastic having puppies where their daddy lives across the ocean. Really amazing! Hmm maybe the amazing four! We'll see!

Well we took Priscilla up to the vet clinic today and did her pregnancy x-ray and we clearly see four puppies! So we are very happy with that! The sweet puppies are due on Friday and we are so excited to meet them. They are going to be so adorable! I have numbered their little heads so you can see them clearly. Fingers crossed for their safe arrival!

A summertime walk to the lake!

Well here in Nova Scotia we have plenty of lakes for the dogs to go swimming and one of our favorite places is just down the road from where we live along a very lovely walking trail. A 30 minute walk leads to an incredible swimming place where you feel like you are in the middle no where. We had five Leos on our walk but didn't get a photo of all of them together, but you can see the dogs love the lake and we love to watch them swim! Was such a beautiful evening to be out on a walk!

Well this week has flown by! Priscilla is still feeling great and hasn't really gotten any bigger so we are not anticipating very many puppies.... I can feel at least one little puppy moving around in her tummy! That is so delightful. I have Prissy resting on her side and place my hand on her belly and can feel the puppy moving around in there! Very sweet! We will be doing our puppy count x-ray in the middle of next week so then we will know for sure how many puppies are coming!

A very happy birthday to all those beautiful puppies born all those 8 years ago! We are so happy that so many from the litter of 12 are doing so well! We know that each of their owners are giving them a special extra tummy rub and a special extra treat today to celebrate all those long and wonderful lives. What a special litter our A litter is! A number of the puppies were born pretty tiny and our sweet Elly, who was Isaac's mom, really saved the day by helping feed the smaller puppies. Elly never really liked her job but she would come in and the puppies would feed and she was so sweet to them! All those memories! Such a beautiful litter of lovely Leonbergers!

Two weeks to go!

Well we have two more weeks until the puppies are coming. Priscilla is great though she is not too big so we are not thinking she has too many puppies. She still has a bit of a waistline which should be gone by now with a good size litter. But what will be will be.

Here she is! You can see her tummy is down a little. It has been so hot here she hasn't been doing too much. She is still looking very beautiful even with her big tummy!

Priscilla is still growing ... a little!

Well Priscilla continues to grow a little, not too much but a little, so we are thinking she is only going to have a smallish litter - but we will see in just over two weeks!

Since her last measurement on Sunday she has gained another inch or maybe a little less, but we'll say that she is 30" around her waist and 36" around at her last rib.

She continues to be a very picky eater, she likes steak best with a little bit of parmesan cheese on top!

A big happy 4th birthday to those sweet puppies. We hope you are having a wonderful day! Stella has had a great day so far, she got to eat Priscilla's breakfast in addition to her own, she got to chew on a great big marrow bone, she got to clean the kids breakfast bowls and eat their leftover lunches, she got to get a birthday hat and have her picture taken and of course there is always cheese involved with that! In addition the weather is sunny and cool today - so she is loving that! We love Stella so much. She is a total sweetie and so beautiful too!

Priscilla is growing ... a little!

Well it is now 6 weeks since Priscilla was bred and she is getting a little round. She is certainly pregnant, but we are wondering how many puppies are growing in there? I am always trying to figure this out before the x-ray we do to count the puppies right before the puppies are born. So I sometimes measure the girls to see how much size they gain. I measure them at their waist and also about where the last rib is. The measurements aren't exact and there is some uncertainty but some people claim the female will grow 1 inch for each puppy.

My first measurement with Priscilla was last week when she measured 28" around the waist and 34" right behind the last rib. Today she is 29" and 35" so she is gaining - a little! I'll post her measurements in a couple of days! Most of the size comes between 6 and 8 weeks! We hope that she has a few puppies growing in there!

Well we are almost 5 weeks from the day of the Priscilla and Lanta breeding and still are sitting on pins and needles wondering if Priscilla is pregnant! She is looking a little rounder and her hair is sticking out on the sides - always a good sign. She is also being a very picky eater and will only eat really yummy things like chicken or steak or maybe a little spaghetti and cheese (she loves spaghetti and cheese!) She is also being very lady like and isn't running and playing like her usual self so things are looking bright! We will know one way or the other pretty soon so fingers crossed!

Wow it is hard to believe that eight years have gone by since that beautiful bouncy Berner baby was born into our home. He was simply the cutest Berner puppy ever - pictured above at 7 weeks of age and also at 8 years of age! A long time ago and his birth still fills my eyes with tears as this beautiful boy had two lovely little sisters who didn't make it that day. A tragedy that still breaks my heart. We have found the hard way that breeding Berners is never easy. But this beautiful boy has filled his 'mom' with lots of love and they have taken such good care of him over the years. May he see many more birthdays!

Don't take my Stella!

Well you can see that my little helper is getting much bigger and is so happy to be walking Stella around the yard after her brush. She has the biggest smile on her face in the first and second photos and then that big helper isn't very helpful and comes and takes the dog and runs off with her! Now that is one unhappy little helper! "What happened to my Stella! Give her back to me!" she yells. Stella and my little helper are BEST friends and she did quickly get her dog back and all was well! Too funny!

The fur is flying!

Well the weather is so hot here and with hot weather comes the flying fur! We always get the question 'do they shed?' Well the short answer it yes and the long answer is yes! They shed a lot when they really blow their coats when the weather turns really hot. The best way to get the undercoat out is to give them a nice bath with good quality shampoo made for dogs and the blow them dry with a dryer. That really helps to loosen up the undercoat and then you can brush it all out.

So here is Stella in her summer attire and she is very happy to have all that fluffy undercoat out. Now this was just one brushing of her and she had already lost a LOT of fur before I got the brush out! Fur really does fly around here! But Stella is looking so very pretty and feeling great! We love Stella and think she is so beautiful!

Well like the old saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words and I think these pictures say it all .... Lanta is spectacular! We love him and he is also as sweet as can be! He has huge bone, a beautiful body and the most beautiful sweet face and expression. What an incredible Leonberger he is! He has also produced some very beautiful puppies so we hope we have such luck too! Fingers crossed that all goes well with the breeding which should happen in about two weeks time!

Well after waiting for what seems like forever Priscilla is finally in season! We are so excited about our upcoming breeding with Priscilla (Wanderweg's Classic Design). We are so pleased to announce that Priscilla will be bred to the truly spectacular Kwenobe Balfen Hullanta (Lanta). Lanta lives in England so our attempt at puppies will be with frozen. We are so thankful to Lanta's owners for everything they have done to make this breeding happen. Stella and her BEST friend!

Stella is just the sweetest dog you can ever imagine. She loves to sit on the couch with the kids and snuggle up close and her best buddy equally loves to snuggle up with Stella. Stella always has to be with the kids and the kids will have it no other way! They are always asking 'can Stella come with us' no matter where we are going or what we are doing! We love you Stella! Too cute!

Well it is hard to believe that Zoey and all her brothers and sisters are TWO years old! Wow a big huge happy birthday to all!

Zoey is fantastic and had a very nice birthday! She got lots of doggie treats, a long walk, some tummy rubs and a nice bone to chew. What a great day! She also got a good brush and now has her summer look - she is very happy to have all that winter fur gone! Happy birthday to our beautiful girl!

Wanderweg's Great Adventure wins Grp 4!

Wow we are SO excited to let you all know that the very beautiful Wanderweg's Great Adventure (Fisher) took a group 4 win today at the Avalon Kennel Club All Breed Show. We are so proud of this young female. She is one of the puppies of the fabulous five and was 'pink' girl so is Priscilla and Magnus's daughter and Sally's sister! I think she looks simply spectacular. At 13 months old we think she might be the youngest Leonberger to get a group placement ever in Canada! Very exciting. We also think she might be the first Leonberger in the 2010 show year to get a group placement too! Hooray - so very exciting. Here is a picture of her from ring side. The photo is a little grainy so we can't wait to get the real show photos. We will post them when we get them. Huge congratulations to Fisher's owner and her handler - you guys totally rock! Fantastic!

Spectacular Sally is one year old!

Well our little baby is now a big girl and she is stunning. She loves to get her picture taken and is very happy to stand for the camera, of course there is always some cheese involved so that makes it much fun. Sally is really starting to fill out now, you can see the difference from just one month ago with her 11 month photos, she is really changing a lot each and every day. She has a very lovely coat and rich color and such a sweet face. She is a treasure! Happy birthday pretty Sally!

Well we had planned to give Sally a bath today so we could take some nice photos of her on her one year birthday, but the weather was way too cool so we gave her a brush instead. Sally has an enormous coat! She has so much undercoat and it is just starting to come out. She loves to be brushed and you can see we had a lot of fun brushing her! She was as good as gold and is very patient with the kids. They love to get the brushes out and try to brush the dogs. They think it is quite funny! Too cute!

We can't believe that it is already one year since the fabulous five were born. Double the trouble!

Well it seems that our dogs always have a best friend. They tend to go in pairs and are often matched with personality style, age and energy level. Well at this point we have a very unlikely pair of best friends. Sally has paired up with our lovely Mya (a Berner) and she follows Mya everywhere doing whatever Mya might be doing. Sally being the youngster looks up to Mya as if she was the BEST thing in the world! However, Mya is always trying to get herself into some trouble and now Sally is tagging along doing whatever Mya might be. Mya loves to bark, dig, roll and Sally is often found joining in that fun! They are also often found laying right next to each other with a pile of sticks to chew on. Too cute!

We are very sad - Holly has no puppies :-(

Well we do not have any good news. We did the ultrasound this morning on Holly and searched and searched for any chance of puppies and there was none. I don't know what we could have done differently as everything was perfect with the breeding. We are so sad and disappointed that this breeding didn't work, the puppies would have truly been amazing in every way....

So we have to look for the future and hopefully Priscilla will have some beautiful puppies later in the summer. We can't imagine a summer without the pitter-patter of lots of sweet puppies running and playing everywhere. More information coming soon on Priscilla's puppies.

Holly's ultrasound appointment!

Well fingers crossed for Holly's ultrasound appointment which is set for Thursday morning at 9:20 am! That is exactly 4 weeks from when she was bred. We are so wishing for some puppies! We are so excited but nervous too! Here is a picture of Holly (left) and her daughter Lily. You can see how sweet they both are - they are too cute!

Zoey is 22 months old!

Well look at this beauty too! Zoey is one fine looking Leonberger. Zoey (Wanderweg's Fairytale Princess) is also Priscilla's daughter, but her and Sally have a very different look. Zoey is a medium sized female but she is so very beautiful with wonderful movement and such a rich color and coat. Zoey is a busy dog and is always looking for something to do! She makes us laugh everyday! We think she is a treasure and love her to pieces!
